Cambogia. Between 1909 and 1931.

Albert Kahn, the French banker and philanthropist. In 1909 he began collecting photographs after a business journey  to Japan with photographer Alfred Dutertre. This first collection set off the idea of making a photographic record of the planet. After he naming the project director Jean Brunhes and had sent photographers to every continent, he realized “The Archives of the Planet”. It consisted of a collection of photographs that documented the life of the era in 50 countries around the world. Between 1909 and 1931 he collected 72,000 photographs including the first autochromes. He also picked up several photographs relating to the First World War.  The photographs have been collected into “The Albert Kahn museum” in Paris.
