Autochromes, the first pratical method of color photography patented December 17, 1903 by the brothers Louis and Auguste Lumière in France and first marketed in 1907. For long exposure times autochromes were used primarily for landscapes, still life or portraits. The autochrome process was used until the ’30s before the advent of Kodacrome with the first color film.
